Unfortunately one of our artists is not able to come for the January – March 2018 Round and we’re looking for one artist to come and work with us until 15.12.17. We will support the accepted artist with an financially convinient offer because of the short time until the residence will start. Please contact us for details.

MORE INFORMATION
The independent project invites selected artists from around the world to come and work in the fully remodeled space for a period of three months. Each accepted artist is offered a partial stipend, provided by ‘PILOTENKUECHE’. We also maintain engagements with several partners, and by introducing our artists to these, make it possible for participants to cooperate with and exhibit in other venues. Our concept encourages experimental strategies and embraces a trans-disciplinary ethos, aiming to provide our participants with the experience of accomplishing something collectively. In a group of around eleven participants, a stimulating dialogue becomes vital in fostering an independent position in one’s work.

 

 

Participants receive all documentation necessary to apply for funding and the visa process. If required, the project can assist with additional individual reference letters. You can apply until 15.12.2017 for this call.

WHAT WE PROVIDE
Our art program fuses the use of studio space with external activities. The Studio space consists of one furnished 36m² space per artist, situated in our 465m² communal loft.

 

The monthly program fee is 400,00 EUR (already including the stipend) with an additional deposit about 400,00 EUR to hold the place in the program. The fee covers the participation costs and includes all side costs such as wifi, provided utilities, renovation, repairs, vat, and the use of the workshop equipment. The artist is responsible for travel costs, art materials & living accommodation. For a detailed list of program equipment please consult our website. The Program activities consists of studio visits, museum tours, scheduled art critiques, an art talk by our residents, as well as one preview show and one final group exhibition. OPEN CALL FOR CURATORS / April – June 2018

The Open Call for Curators for the April – June 2018 round of our international art program is active now and we are open for applications. The program invites selected artists from around the world to come and work in the fully remodeled space for a period of three months. Our concept encourages experimental strategies and embraces a trans-disciplinary ethos, aiming to provide our participants with the experience of accomplishing something collectively. In a group of around eleven participants, a stimulating dialogue becomes vital in fostering an independent position in one’s work.

 

The project invites within the “Emerging Curator Program” curators to gain direct experience in the field. Invited curators engage with a group of artists and learn complex social, theoretical and practical aspects of accommodating various concepts and mediums in a single exhibition. This program aims to support the young profesaionals and to connect them to international as well as local artists and the greater Leipzig community. We maintain engagements with several partners, and by introducing our artists to these, make it possible for participants to cooperate with and exhibit in other venues. Our concept encourages experimental strategies and embraces a trans-disciplinary ethos, aiming to provide our participants with the experience of accomplishing something collectively. In a group of around international and local artists a stimulating dialogue becomes vital in fostering an independent position in one’s work while binding the individuals temporarily within the group, which leads to a long-term network that exists even after the program is over.

We offer the chance to connect with artists and expand the personal network we understand the project as a platform for the participating curator, to gain insights as well as to experiment in a practical field, to benefit their own position, concepts, as well as overall career.

EXPECTATIONS
We expect openness, good English / German skills, a hands-on mentality, flexibility and the ability to work independently, paired with significant skills in contemporary art. The curator is expected to work actively within the group of artists to develop, mobilize, and realize concepts of the planned exhibition. Further expectations include discussing didactic concepts as well as giving assistance to the artists, individually and collectively. Curators work a maximum of 20 hours /week for a period of 3 months.

You will gain experience in the field of press and public relations. We curate and prepare exhibitions together. This internship may also be incorporated into your university program credentials.

EXPECTATIONS
We expect openness, good English skills, hands on mentality, flexibility and the ability to work independently, paired with a basic interest in contemporary art. Interns work a maximum of 20 hours /week for a period of 3 months.

OPEN CALL FOR LOCAL PARTICIPANTS April – June 2018

“PILOTENKUECHE” is looking for artists from around Leipzig to participate in the “Local Participants Program” for a period of three months. This program aims to support the local art scene and to connect it to international artists.

 

Each accepted artist is offered a full stipend, provided by “PILOTENKUECHE” and financed by a private donor. We maintain engagements with several partners, and by introducing our artists to these, make it possible for participants to cooperate with and exhibit in other venues. Our concept encourages experimental strategies and embraces a trans-disciplinary ethos, aiming to provide our participants with the experience of accomplishing something collectively. In a group of around eleven international artists working in the space and two local participants participating on our program activities, a stimulating dialogue becomes vital in fostering an independent position in one’s work while binding the individuals temporarily within the group, which leads to a long-term network that exists even after the program is over.

WHAT WE PROVIDE
During the 3 months, Local Participants are free to join our weekly program, request a consultation, and join the project exhibitions. Since Local participants have their own studios, we do not provide a working place at “PILOTENKUECHE”. With this framework in mind, we intend to elicit an engaged response in a stimulating environment between locals and international participants:

  • approximately 2 Local Participants participate in the program together with
  • approximately 11 International Residents
  • studio space is not provided to Local Participants
  • costs / participation fee: 0,00 EUR* / month, per artist
  • the fee covers the participation costs
  • studio costs, art materials & living accommodation are additional

*The fee includes the full stipend of 300,00 EUR from ‘PILOTENKUECHE,’ with directly subsidizes the full program fee of 300,00 EUR. A further support is not provided.

Living accomodation is additional. The project offers one shared apartment which hosts two artists. The Program activities consists of studio visits, museum tours, scheduled art critiques, an art talk by our residents, as well as one preview show and one final group exhibition.

EXPECTATIONS
Participating artists are expected to participate with the program objectives, to contribute to a collective enterprise, and be open to work with others. In exchange for the partial stipend, artists are expected to leave a donation of one or two art works.
