Here are some impressions of the preview show of recent residents from Austria, the UK, South Africa, South Korea, the USA, Canada, Brazil, Scotland, and Argentina, after having spent 4 months working at the residency.

This group was special to us as the second group of artists at the new site of Pilotenkueche. Their work offered a focus on painting, research based work, and installation. During the opening were performances, live music, and a chance to discuss the final work with our international residents. In addition we would like to thank our local performers EAU, Marek Brandt, SELEKTA PEHLE, and all the attendees who came to the opening event. All are welcome to attend our closing reception tomorrow evening, 29.09.17.

“Buttersäure-Senf”// Exhibition in Progress

This week, we focused on preparing our preview exhibition. The final show of our most recent residents from Austria, the UK, South Africa, South Korea, the USA, Canada, Brazil, Scotland, and Argentina will present the results of 4 months spent at the residency. This round of artists has a particular interest in painting, ceramics, installation, found objects and media arts, with thematic interests ranging from the narrative of digitized memory, to sexual  identity and identity politics.

It is our goal to trigger and to develop a dialogue, to propel a participative mandate between enthusiasts & artists.  We are pleased to present the work of our local participants Robin Zöffzig & Matthias Garff, as well as the performers EAU, Marek BrandtSELEKTA PEHLE, Nils Müller and Olav Amende from Leipzig. We invite everyone to attend the show at the new space of PILOTENKUECHE.

OPEN CALL FOR LOCAL PARTICIPANTS 2017, 18, 19

“PILOTENKUECHE” is looking for artists from around Leipzig to participate in the “Local Participants Program” for a period of three months. This program aims to support the local art scene and to connect it to international artists.

Each accepted artist is offered a full stipend, provided by “PILOTENKUECHE” and financed by a private donor. We maintain engagements with several partners, and by introducing our artists to these, make it possible for participants to cooperate with and exhibit in other venues. Our concept encourages experimental strategies and embraces a trans-disciplinary ethos, aiming to provide our participants with the experience of accomplishing something collectively. In a group of around eleven international artists working in the space and two local participants participating on our program activities, a stimulating dialogue becomes vital in fostering an independent position in one’s work while binding the individuals temporarily within the group, which leads to a long-term network that exists even after the program is over.

We’re always looking for artists to participate on our program, but please consider our deadlines.

ALL DEADLINES

Round Oct. – Dec. 2017: 30.09.17
Round Jan. – March 2018: 31.10.17
Round April – June 2018: 30.11.17
Round July – Sept.: 2018: 30.12.17

Round Jan. – March 2019: 30.06.18

WHAT WE PROVIDE

  • approximately 2 Local Participants participate in the program together with
  • approximately 11 International Residents
  • studio space is not provided to Local Participants
  • costs / participation fee: 0,00 EUR* / month, per artist
  • the fee covers the participation costs
  • studio costs, art materials & living accommodation are additional

*The fee includes the full stipend of 300,00 EUR from ‘PILOTENKUECHE,’ with directly subsidizes the full program fee of 300,00 EUR. A further support is not provided.

Living accomodation is additional. The project offers one shared apartment which hosts two artists. The Program activities consists of studio visits, museum tours, scheduled art critiques, an art talk by our residents, as well as one preview show and one final group exhibition.
