Visiting: Andrea Garcia // 27.07.17

Last week we visited the studio of the former pilot Andrea Garcia Vasquez (Mixed Media; USA). She uses textiles as a mimetic device, and as a basis for psycho-geographic experiments. We spoke of her approach, of the adoption and manipulation of nature, topophilia, and the status of craft in contemporary galleries. We are happy to connect former residents with our recent artists. Many thanks Andrea, for your continued participation in your program!

That same evening, we had the chance to visit exhibitions at Potemka Gallery and D21, two contemporary art spaces in the Lindenau neighborhood.

PILOTENKUECHE is regularly visiting artists, galleries and museums with its residents to introduce them into the local art scene and – moreover – to create an exchange between our international guests and the people, which are based in Leipzig.
