PILOTENKUECHE Artist Residency is an independent art program open to artists of all nationalities. Working towards the common goal of a final group exhibition leads to intensive dialogue about individual ideas and working practices and binds the artist temporarily into a group, which leads to a longer-term network that exists even after the residency is over.

OPEN CALL FOR PILOTENKUECHE April – June 2018

The Open Calls for April – June 2018 of our international art program is active now and we are open for applications. The independent project invites selected artists from around the world to come and work in the fully remodeled space for a period of three months. Each accepted artist is offered a partial stipend, provided by ‘PILOTENKUECHE’. We also maintain engagements with several partners, and by introducing our artists to these, make it possible for participants to cooperate with and exhibit in other venues. Our concept encourages experimental strategies and embraces a trans-disciplinary ethos, aiming to provide our participants with the experience of accomplishing something collectively. In a group of around eleven participants, a stimulating dialogue becomes vital in fostering an independent position in one’s work.

Participants receive all documentation necessary to apply for funding and the visa process. If required, the project can assist with additional individual reference letters. You can apply any time.

Re-View: Artists Talks // 15.06.17 / 32nd Round

Here are some impressions of last weeks in-house artist talks with the recent residents from Austria, the UK, South Africa, South Korea, the USA, Canada, Brasil, Scotland and Argentina. Our aim  was to gain a overview about the diversity of approaches found at our studio. This is the first step towards the common goal of collaboration & discourse, leading to our final group exhibition. We were excited to learn that this round shares a common motive of critical underpinnings in their artistic & thematic approach. Needless to say, we are eager see what they will come up with.

To open the presentations we had a wonderful talk delivered by a former resident, the interdisciplinary and forever enchanting Jacqueline Van de Geer. Thank you so much for visiting us!

During their first week the new residents already started to work and changed the studio into a productive space. Curious visitors came to meet them and with our “Welcome BBQ” we had the chance to celebrate their arrival with sunshine.

Visiting: Spinnerei Galleries & Nicolás Dupont

Last week we introduced our artist to the “Spinnerei” complex and its contemporary galleries, including Gallerie Kleindienst, EIGEN + Art, and REITER. We also had a chance to speak to the artist Nicolás Dupont about his practice and current projects. We also met his studio-mates who were kind enough to give us impromptu talks about their work. Thank you Nicolás for receiving us at your atelier!
