OPEN CALL FOR PILOTENKUECHE 2018

The Open Calls for 2018 of our international artist program are active now and we are open for applications. The independent project invites selected artists from around the world to come and work in the fully remodeled space for a period of three months. Each accepted artist is offered a partial stipend, provided by ‘PILOTENKUECHE’. We also maintain engagements with several partners, and by introducing our artists to these, make it possible for participants to cooperate with and exhibit in other venues. Our concept encourages experimental strategies and embraces a trans-disciplinary ethos, aiming to provide our participants with the experience of accomplishing something collectively. In a group of around eleven participants, a stimulating dialogue becomes vital in fostering an independent position in one’s work.

Participants receive all documentation necessary to apply for funding and the visa process. If required, the project can assist with additional individual reference letters. You can apply any time.

Re-view: ‘FULL STOP’ / 20 – 27.05.17

Here are some impressions of the final show of the recent residents from Brazil, Belgium, Greece, Canada, Sweden, Northern Ireland, USA, UK, Russia, Malaysia, China, and South Korea after they worked three months in PILOTENKUECHE.

This group was particularly special to us as the first group of artists that has vitalized the new site of Pilotenkueche. Their work offered a very special focus on painting, research based work, installation and photography, presenting a diversity of expression around the topics of identity, data aggregation, & nature with a myriad of technical & activistic approaches. During the opening were three performances, live music, and a chance to discuss the final work with our international residents. In addition we were pleased to include three guest artists from Leipzig: Hannes Uhlenhaut, Marie Lynn Ravens, and hansen_windisch. With an ethos of inclusion, we presented a range of narratives to explore the dialogue of the broader context in contemporary art. The show  took place at the new space of PILOTENKUECHE, where all were welcome to attend the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the project. Here are some impressions of the exhibition:

We would like to welcome the artists who joined us this month: Ho Man Law and Josef Ka!

Visiting: GfZK / G2

This week we visited GfZK and the G2 Kunsthalle in Leipzig. We had an interesting time viewing the “Spaces of Art” exhibit and “The Present Order” collection, followed by our regular visit to G2’s new acquisitions.

PILOTENKUECHE is regularly visiting artists, galleries and museums with its residents to introduce them into the local art scene and to create an exchange between our international guests and those based in Leipzig.
